Gravity Zip Line Tour
Six of the Longest, Fastest Zip Lines Around—Right Here at Here at West Virginia's New River Gorge
Adrenalin fueled and exhilarating!
This open-air zip-line course soars a jaw-dropping 200 feet above the ground at its highest point, taking riders on a mile+ tour that zig-zags from ridge to ridge across a mountain bowl and offers amazing birds-eye views of the foliage in the valley below.
The warm-up zips on this baby are 500 feet long, so you know the big zips are going to be something else. The real action kicks-in with the third zip, crossing a distance of 1800 feet across the bowl. The fourth and fifth heart-stopping zips stretch 1600 and 1300 feet, respectively, reaching heights of about 200 feet above the ground and speeds up to 45-50 miles per hour. As if that weren't enough, the next one is the 400-pound gorilla of zip lines—Adrena-Line. Adrena-Line is 3150 feet long (longer than the New River Gorge Bridge!) and on it, people routinely hit speeds of more than 55 mph! Elevated above the trees, you'll have unspoiled views of the lush ever-changing forests of West Virginia as you scale the mountainside during your two-hour ride in the sky. Below the zip-line, the history of the area runs deep—this bowl is re-claimed strip mine.
For a full day of zip lining, pair Gravity with our signature TreeTops Canopy Tour. And for the true sky rangers among us, try two full days of up-close and intimate heights by doing TreeTops, Gravity, TimberTrek Aerial Adventure Park and BridgeWalk!
Who Can Take a Gravity New River Gorge Zip Lines Tour?
It is wise to consult your family physician to determine whether you are physically capable to handle an increase in activity, adrenaline and short walk up the hill. Zipline tours by nature are an adventure activity. Heights effect each participant differently. You can expect to feel an increase in adrenaline which triggers an increase in respiration, heart beat, and pulse.
Gravity New River Gorge Zip Line Tour has five very long, very tall zips. The weight of a participant effects the speed at which you travel. For your safety and ours, participants need to weigh a minimum of 100 lbs. and a maximum of 260 lbs. (These are guidelines and depend on the participants physical and mental ability. Please consult your guide if you have any questions).
Do You Run Zip Line Tours In Bad Weather?
Yes indeed! Gravity New River Gorge Zip Lines run rain or shine. We temporarily close the course during lightning storms or high winds. If we know in advance that we will be closed, we will try to contact you. If your Gravity New River Gorge Zip Lines trip is canceled, we will offer you the option to participate in another activity, rebook for a different day or time or issue a rain check.
What If I Am Afraid?
Most people are anxious or nervous prior to starting. Our professional guides will review the procedures, explain the hazards and quickly reassure you. You will be clipped onto a steel cable that can support more than a ton of weight. At anytime during the practice zip you can decide to quit. You can also quit after any zip line on the Gravity Tour, but you will have to hike out as there is no road access to platforms in the middle of the tour.
What Should I Wear?
Closed-toed secure footwear is required (flip flops are not acceptable). Wear comfortable pants or shorts and shirt, (avoid loose clothing such as scarves, skirts or dresses and loose jewelry) sunglasses, sunscreen and a camel-back water pack are optimum equipment. Long hair should be tied back. You will be fitted with a harness which has adjustable leg loops, belt, and shoulder harness and a helmet.
Dress for the weather forecast. In spring and fall, bring wool or polypropylene jackets and a windbreaker. For cold and wet weather, bring a jacket or polypropylene, pile fleece, and a windbreaker. (We go rain or shine.) We supply gloves which are used for braking and keep you hands warm. Phones, wallets, and other lose items should be locked in your car. We give you the option to store your car keys at our facility.
