Twenty-five years ago there were very few good restaurants in West Virginia. You couldn't even get a good cup of coffee in this area, much less a decent meal. Fortunately for anyone who enjoys good food, there are plenty of good restaurants in West Virginia now!

In the early '80s Class VI opened Smokey's Charcoal Grill, offering buffet style Appalachian cuisine. In 1999 we moved Smokey's to a new timber frame, open air pavilion and renamed the restaurant to Smokey's On the Gorge. Smokey's On The Gorge, was featured on the Food Network's "The Best Of" television show in the summer of 2004 and is now featured in their brand new book "Food Network: Best Of The Best Of". Smokey's is one of four West Virginia restaurants featured, and we are especially proud to be among the Top 10 places they enjoyed most!

Chetty's Pub, a restaurant/sports bar, is located in the old Smokey's restaurant. Between the two WV restaurants, you can be assured that you will be well-fed. If you are planning an extended stay in the area, besides the two best restaurants in West Virginia at Class VI, we would like to recommend some other local WV restaurants. When calling for reservations, our staff will gladly recommend other West Virginia restaurants.

Knowing how important river trip food is to any outdoor experience, Class VI was the first company to offer upscale deli river trip food on our trips. We continue to cater to our guest's special needs and offer a delicious luncheon you will remember long after the trip.

Appalachian cuisine evolved in this area over the last 150 years.  Our chefs embrace this interesting style of cooking and choice of foods.  Through continued refinements our chefs' have developed mouth watering products to compliment the meals severed at Smokey's.  We now offer our own delicious Smokey's On the Gorge food products.
