We offer a gourmet full-service buffets every night, and optional seating on our outdoor deck offers spectacular views of the New River Gorge and incredible Appalachian sunsets. Eating at Smokey’s is not just an everyday dining experience, and if you book a Smokey's meal as part of an all-inclusive vacation, all you have to do is show up to eat it.
Smokey is usually open only for Breakfast and Dinner, so those looking for a great lunch should visit Chetty's Pub right next door, above the Canyon Rim Store. Another great option, especially for families with small children, is Buffler's BBQ located well within walking distance, just across the road at our Mill Creek Campus.
Begin your day of adventures with our wonderful array of foods, including homemade waffles, our world-famous apple-smoked bacon, carved ham, sausage, roasted red skin potatoes, country gravy, fresh scrambled eggs, fruit, muffins and breads. For drinks, we offer an assortment of juices as well as coffee and tea.

Sometimes, traditional Appalachian favorites are featured on the buffet—barbecued wild boar ribs, grilled quail, morel mushrooms and rainbow trout all make semi-regular appearances. Surprising vegetable dishes, sauces and pastas are always prepared fresh as compliments to the main dishes. Enjoy a glass of wine from our diverse wine list, your favorite cocktail or a non-alcoholic beverage.
Smokey's Charcoal Grill was originally created in 1986. The restaurant that evolved into Smokey's on the Gorge was named in honor of Dana "Smokey" Morton, bus driver extraordinaire, who came to Class VI River Runners in 1979 when we purchased a 1954 GMC bus from the old Oak Hill City Lines. Smokey passed away in 1988, but his legend lives on. Some folks still remember Smokey and his long, handlebar mustache, warm smile, mischievous eyes and shaved head.
