Ambush WV Paintball FAQ

Paintball Gaming: Frequently asked questions

Question: Can I Bring My Own Gun?

Answer: YES!! You are permitted to bring your own gun. We allow both pump and semi-automatic .68 caliber paintball guns. Full-Autos are NOT permitted! All personal guns will be chronographed by our judging staff, and must be 280 f.p.s.

Question: Can I Bring My Own Paintballs?

Answer: No. Only Ambush WV paintballs may be used on our fields.

Question: Can I Participate In Paintball Games?

Answer:  Paintball is fun whether you are a young, old, male or female. At the start of a game you can expect to feel an increase in adrenaline which triggers an increase in respiration, heart beat, and pulse.  You need to be in good physical condition. Please consult your family physician to determine whether you are physically capable.

Question: Do We Need To Sign A Release Form?

Answer: Before participating in any adventure activity, each participant is required to read and sign a release form, which includes a waiver of liability, an assumption of risk and an indemnification. If you or anyone in your group would like to see the release form in advance, you may download a copy of it off our website or we will be glad to mail or fax you a copy. ALL MINORS, not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian need to bring a signed copy of Ambush WV's release form the day of the activity.

Question:
Do You Play Paintball In Bad Weather?

Answer: We play rain or shine. If it is supposed to rain, we recommend that you bring rain gear to wear under the camo coveralls which are provided.

Question:
Does It Hurt When You Are Shot?

Answer: Paintball guns use compressed air to propel paintballs at speeds of 280 feet per second. The force at which you are hit with a paintball depends upon the clothing you wear (loose and layered clothing reduces the impact) and the range at which you shot. When hit with a paintball at normal ranges, 20 to 30 feet, it is comparable to the sting felt when hit by a snowball.

Question:
How Big Of A Group Can You Accommodate?

Answer: Individuals and groups of all sizes are welcome. For individuals or small groups (less than 20 people) we will form teams (letting your party stay together) and do our best to match you against a group of equal size and skill. If you have a group of 20 or more, you will play on your own fields - just you and your friends!

Question: How Old Do You Have To Be To Play Paintball?

Answer: Our recommended age is 10. Children between the ages of 10–15 must be accompanied by an adult. At this time, we do not have a maximum age.

Question:
Is Paintball Safe?

Answer: Injuries are minimal but can occur when running, jumping, or diving on uneven ground; tripping on roots, logs, rocks, or other man-made or natural objects; being hit with paintballs at close range; being bit or stung by bees, other insects, or reptiles to name a few possibilities. Ambush WV guides will train and instruct guests in fair play methods and safety precautions (including leaving your helmet and goggles on at all times and gun safety). Though we use best practices, as in any adventure sport or activity, there is always the potential risk for accidents, injuries, and even death.

Question:
What Is Ambush WV?

Answer: Ambush is a 'capture the flag' team sport, played on a wooded site with natural and man-made obstacles. The objective of this traditional game is to capture the opposing team's flag and return it to your team's base. Ambushes are frequent and alertness is essential. It is great exercise, fun, exciting, and definitely a team sport. Each game is supervised by a referee to insure fair play.

Question:
What Should I Wear?

Answer: Solid toe, secure footwear is required - Flip flops are not acceptable. Wear comfortable pants and shirt. You will be fitted with a helmet and goggles, paintball belt, and camo coveralls. Dress for the weather forecast. In spring and fall, bring a wool or polypropylene jacket and a windbreaker. For cold and wet weather, bring a jacket or polypropylene, pile fleece, and a windbreaker. We go Rain Or Shine!  Phones, wallets, and other loose items should be locked in your car. We give you the option to store your car keys at our facility.

Question:
What's Your Cancellation and Other Policies?

Answer: Our cancellation policy for paintball is the same as our rafting policy.
