Lower New River Rafting Full Day - Spring & Summer
History, scenery, and lots and lots of rapids are what a Lower New whitewater rafting trip is all about. A trip down the Lower New is a great get-a-way adventure vacation.Since 1978, Class VI has been "In Quest Of Too Much Fun" sharing the spectacular scenery and world class whitewater on the Lower New River Gorge. In the morning, you'll meet at Class VI's basecamp, check-in, pick up your helmet and lifejacket, and head to the river on our bus.
Once at the river, each guide will help show you how to get the most from your river trip, emphasizing teamwork and fun. As you drift into the 1,300 foot deep canyon, you will pass old mining towns, ferry sites, and coal camps. Our guides love to share the history and geology of the New River Gorge.
The New River is a large volume river. The rapids are formed by the large shelf drops and boulders. These structures create the monster waves, hydraulics and world class whitewater. There's plenty of floating and swimming to do in between the rapids, along with stops at Jump Rock and a huge gourmet deli-style riverside lunch. Class VI travels an extra mile down stream to our take-out at Hawks Nest Lake and includes two more rapids and an extra fifteen foot jump rock.
After loading the rafts we head back to Class VI to watch the video of your trip on the big screen in Chetty's Pub. The Lower New is an amazing river experience, a trip that creates lifetime memories. Class VI invites you to "Experience the Difference" with us!
