Gauley Rafting rafting in the spring offers some of the biggest whitewater we will run all year. Our guides all agree that when the Gauley River is running, there is nowhere better to be than in West Virginia, running some of the most impressive rapids on the planet.Spring Gauley River whitewater releases are often bigger in volume than those in the popular fall season by two or three times! This is a trip for the truly adventurous rafter who wants to enjoy some big water and some big fun. Depending on the flows each day we choose either the Upper or Lower section of the Gauley River. You can count on the fact that we will head for the biggest, baddest whitewater the Gauley River has to offer.
What To Expect
- A five to seven hour trip from the time you leave basecamp until you return.
- Four to six hours of “water time”
- We call the Summersville Dam on the morning of your trip and the amount of water that the Army Corps of Engineers releases determines what section of river we run and what type of boat we run it in. You could be on either the Upper or Lower Gauley in rafts or the Middle Gauley in individual inflatable kayaks – we will pick the most adventurous trip!
