AMERICA'S BEST WHITEWATER™
Rafting Adventures in West Virginia eg.. Reliability + Diversity = Fun for You
The best white water rafting in West Virginia is one thing we have lots of! You can buy an expensive plane ticket and go find bigger whitewater rafting somewhere (like the Zambezi River in Africa for instance!), but, overall, you won't find an area that has so many different stretches of water to paddle that run with such reliability. West Virginia white water rafting is know as "America's Best Whitewater"T
The New River, dubbed "the Grand Canyon of the East," is the mack daddy of whitewater rafting on our local rivers. It runs big in the spring, but even in the depths of a dry summer, whitewater rafting on the New offers the best white water rafting in West Virginia. And you can count on West Virginia rafting to provide fun for everyone-not just the hardcore thrill seekers in your group. Family rafting trips in WV on the upper stretches are perfect for the paddlers at either end of the age spectrum. These calmer sections are also ideal for family rafting trips in WV, overnight trips or beginning kayakers. The Lower New will satisfy those looking for bigger hits and a fatter adrenaline buzz. West Virginia white water rafting on the Lower New is big fun all year long.
Add The Gauley River to our rafting adventures in West Virginia and things really get interesting. This smaller, steeper, feistier and more pristine river complements the New River perfectly. West Virginia rafting on the Gauley is consistently rated among the top ten commercially run rivers in the world. Known as the best white water rafting West Virginia, the Gauley has become a required destination on any serious paddler's itinerary. The Upper Gauley features steep, technical drops laced with dangerous undercut rocks keep paddlers on their toes. Five class V rapids (Insignificant, Pillow Rock, Lost Paddle, Iron Ring and Sweet's Falls) are dispersed along a nine-mile section of the river. In between are lots of smaller rapids that are still challenging and serious. The Lower Gauley is not quite as steep and its rapids tend to feature long rollicking wave trains. This is the perfect choice for people who want to take a step up from the New. The scenery is unsurpassed! During the spring and summer, the Gauley usually runs at lower flows, giving us a chance to explore it in smaller rafts and duckies.
You know, we've been running these rivers for over 30 years and we never get bored of rafting adventures in West Virginia. Every section changes depending on water level, and the scenery and wildlife change depending on the season. We invite you to come white water rafting in West Virginia and get to know "America's Best WhitewaterT" better!
